The 2017 GMC Canyon is a compact pickup truck offering numerous powerful engine choices, a large towing capacity and a high-tech infotainment system. Available trim levels include the Canyon SL, Canyon SLE, Canyon, Canyon SLT and Denali.
The base model is powered by a 2.5 liter four-cylinder engine with an output of 200 hp and 191 lb feet of torque. Buyers can also opt for the Canyon trim level which comes with a 2.8 liter four-cylinder turbodiesel engine with 181 hp. Those who want more power may want to choose the robust 3.6 liter V6 engine with an output of 308 hp and 275 pound-feet of torque. Towing capacity stands at 3,500 lbs for the base model. The v6 edition can tow 7,000 lbs. The turbodiesel has the highest towing capacity with 7,700 lbs.
Seating capacity varies depending on the cab configuration chosen. The standard GMC Canyon seats two passengers while the Extended Cab editions can seat four passengers. Crew Cab models seat five passengers.
Standard interior features include a stereo system, USB connectivity, a rearview camera, and a 4.2″ display sunscreen. Optional features include Bluetooth connectivity, remote start, satellite radio, a 7″ touch screen, a premium Bose sound system and the ability to charge your phone without using a cable. The 2017 Canyon comes standard with a 6 foot 2 inch bed. Some Crew Cab models have a shorter 5 foot 2 inch bed.
